Radiesse Lidocaine is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, semi-solid Class III medical device in the form of an implantable gel. It consists of synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres with a diameter of 25–45 microns, suspended in a water-based gel carrier, with the addition of 0.3% lidocaine hydrochloride to reduce pain discomfort during application. The device is fully biocompatible, serving as a mechanical volumetric implant and a biostimulator of neocollagenesis, undergoing slow enzymatic degradation.
mechanism of action
-
immediate mechanical correction: directly after implantation, the gel matrix provides a physical filling effect and restores soft tissue volume
-
induction of neocollagenesis (biostimulation): the CaHA microspheres create a scaffold within the subcutaneous tissue and dermis, which induces mechanical stimulation of fibroblasts to produce endogenous type I collagen
-
progressive tissue restructuring: as the gel carrier is physiologically resorbed (after approx. 4 months), the implant site is replaced by a newly formed network of collagen fibers, resulting in long-term increases in skin density and elasticity
-
anesthetic action: the lidocaine content inhibits the conduction of pain impulses at the injection site, improving the patient's tolerance profile for the procedure
-
high tissue stability: due to the precise size range of the microspheres (25-45 microns), the device minimizes the risk of migration and foreign body reactions
indications and intended use
The device is intended for deep implantation (subcutaneous or supraperiosteal) by authorized medical personnel for:
-
volumetry and contour modeling: correction of the jawline, zygomatic bones, and modeling the shape of the chin and nose
-
treatment of atrophy and volume loss: filling of sunken cheeks, temples, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines
-
restructuring of tissue laxity: improvement of skin density in the middle and lower thirds of the face and on the earlobes
-
revitalization of the dorsal surface of the hands: mechanical reduction of the visibility of veins and tendons by increasing subcutaneous tissue volume
